Hit the roads out of Darwin to discover the region’s stunning national parks, pristine river systems and abundance of nature and wildlife.

The Nature’s Way drive takes in the very best of the Top End – Darwin, Katherine, Litchfield and Kakadu National Park. Begin your journey in either Darwin or Katherine and in four to seven days you can experience a wealth of natural and cultural destinations.

Three hours from Darwin is all it takes to be in one of the world’s last unspoiled natural wonderlands. Thousands of bird and animal species populate the diverse landscapes of World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, while the rock art galleries reveal wonders of ancient aboriginal culture.

Delve into a range of wetlands, billabongs and rugged stone country, accessible via sealed roads. Intrepid four-wheel drivers can tackle off-road options that explore some of the park’s greatest wonders.

Take the Jim Jim Falls track and revel in the sight of the mighty falls. Be sure to take some walking shoes and explore some of the great walks that can take you to some very special spots.

Venture down to Katherine, stopping in Pine Creek for some of the country’s best bird watching, and arrive at spectacular Nitmiluk National Park, home to the spectacular Katherine Gorge. The park offers river cruising by boat or canoe, crocodile spotting and world-class walking trails. This is an adventure playground of rare beauty so take your time and savour the landscape.

Conclude your journey with a trip west to Litchfield National Park, just 90km from Darwin city. Two and four-wheel driving tracks explore shady waterholes, fascinating termite mounds, and Litchfield’s most popular site, Wangi Falls, an easily accessible swimming hole that provides unforgettable viewing.

Nature’s Way can be traversed entirely by sealed roads, and off-road enthusiasts will find many exciting detours for some adventurous four-wheel driving and stunning landscapes that can only be reached four-wheel drives.

Enjoy the ride, this is an unforgettable road trip.
