Yellow Water cruise
Yellow Water Billabong is Kakadu’s most famous wetland. It’s located at the end of Jim Jim Creek, a tributary of the South Alligator River.
Here you can journey by boat and see egrets, sea eagles, and azure kingfishers sharing the paperbark forests and fresh water mangroves with buffalo, wild horses, and the mighty saltwater crocodile.
River cruising around Kakadu
About one third of Australia’s bird species are represented in Kakadu National Park, and at Yellow Water you can find at least 60 species. Keep an eye out for the Kakadu big five – five species of kingfisher!…one of which is only 2cm tall, so keep your eyes peeled.
There are plenty of crocodiles in their natural habitat, and buffalo on the floodplains. A huge Jabiru’s nest is nearby, and depending on the season, Brolgas can be found dancing.
The sunrise and sunset cruises are very popular so make sure you book in advance. There are 6 cruises a day so no matter what time of the day you go, this is a wonderful and unique experience for you to enjoy.
East Alligator cruise

With special permission from the local custodians of the land you can disembark on the Arnhem Land side of the river for a short walk into Arnhem Land.
