Que ce soit un crocodile monstrueux à l'heure de son repas ou une randonnée nocturne dans la nature sauvage, vous trouverez beaucoup d'actions palpitantes dans les alentours de Darwin.

If you’re looking for excitement in the NT, Darwin won’t let you down. Watch monster crocs in action, fly low over tropical wetlands, and trek into the wilderness.

Crocs and choppers

Adventure seekers wanting to see one of the world’s most deadly animals in full flight should join a crocodile ‘jumping tour’ along the Adelaide River. Only 1.5 hours from Darwin, these crocodile tours allow you to observe these 6-metre killing machines up close as they leap out of the water to grab meat held out for them. If you prefer it without the theatrics, why not take a low-flying chopper ride along the Mary River – home to the largest concentration of saltwater crocs in the world.

A heli-fishing trip on the Adelaide River is another once-in-a-lifetime experience. Take a thrilling helicopter ride to a remote fishing spot in the vast and pristine wetlands and cast a line for the famous NT barramundi.

A slower pace

For those in favour of more reflective pursuits, there are plenty of options on offer. Trek to waterfalls and plunge pools in the spectacular Litchfield National Park, or set out to conquer the three-day Tabletop Track. Explore Darwin’s scenic harbour and its rugged tropical coastline before heading further afield to the Tiwi Islands where you’ll discover the vibrant and ancient local culture.

On four wheels

Need more action? Hire a 4WD and set out at your own pace to explore the countless tracks and trails that link the regions of the NT, from the sparkling water of Darwin Harbour and the ancient rock art of Kakadu to the plunging gorges of Katherine and the red sunsets over Uluru.
