By gorge, you've done it Glen Helen 🤩 @jaydidphoto snapped this stunning shot at #sunrise, describing the landscape in the Red Centre as “mind-boggling to comprehend." A 1.5 hour drive from #AliceSprings, @glenhelenlodge is the ultimate base for exploring the West MacDonnell Ranges and is located just a few minutes' walk from this beautiful gorge. The lodge offers various accommodation options, along with a restaurant and bar. You'll also find Ormiston Gorge, Redbank Gorge, the Ochre Pits and Ellery Creek Big Hole all within easy driving distance. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Jay! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

Only 30 minutes' drive west of #AliceSprings and nestled in the West MacDonnell Ranges, Standley Chasm was formed by floods over millions of years and is an important cultural site for Western Arrernte women. The easy 20 minute walk to the chasm takes you through a lush gully, dotted with ancient ferns and cycads that have survived in the shadow of the arid hills from a long-gone wetter age. While the Chasm is worthy of a visit at anytime of day, it looks most dramatic an hour either side of noon on a sunny day. This is the time of day when the light enters the chasm and the sheer walls glow from reflected sunlight. There's a small kiosk near the carpark where you can grab a coffee and a bite to eat upon your return.  Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @zoeyfromthewoods! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

As the name suggests, Ellery Creek Big Hole is one big ol’ waterhole that is surrounded by red cliffs and native trees. The sight we see today is thanks to thousands of years of floods that have carved the formation into the rock 🙌 It's easy to while away a day here with a number of walking trails, excellent croc-free swimming and a picnic area. Located just 90 kilometres from #AliceSprings, it's one of many magnificent stops along the West MacDonnell Ranges. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @kdub____! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

Calling all adventure seekers! Lace up your walking shoes and explore the Rim Walk at #KingsCanyon - this challenging but spectacular hike is 6 kilometres in length and skirts the edge of the canyon for much of the trail, providing magnificent views of the cliffs and surrounding landscape. Watarrka National Park can be found roughly halfway between #AliceSprings and #Uluru and is way more than just a day trip destination 🙌 Why not explore the region's walking trails, four-wheel drive tracks, cultural tours and accommodation options ranging from camping to resort-style rooms. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @shaun_jeffers!  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

The @alicespringsdesertpark have welcomed five new baby Thorny Devil's this month 😍 Thorny Devils (also known as mountain devils or thorny lizards) are day-active, ant-eating reptiles that grow 20cm long and can live 20 years. When they locate a trail of ants they lick them up with their short, sticky tongue - scientists calculate that Thorny Devil's might eat a thousand or more ants in a single meal 😮 The Desert Park currently have two on display in the Nocturnal House and the hatchlings will be rotated for public display. Located just 10 minutes' drive from the centre of #AliceSprings, the wildlife park is the ultimate place to learn more about the Red Centre's native flora and fauna.  Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Desert Park team!  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

It's found on postcards and in paintings, and if the light is right when you visit, it takes your breath away... yep, we're talking about Ormiston Gorge! Out of all the gaps and gorges in the West MacDonnell National Park just west of #AliceSprings, it has to be one of the most impressive 💛 Whilst the gorge is famous for its waterhole, one of the other very special things about this place is that it showcases the spectacular geology and landforms of the park. The best way to appreciate the scenery of Ormiston Gorge and Pound is to follow one of the many marked walking tracks. There are a number of trails with varying levels of difficulty, ranging from 5 minutes to 3-4 hours. When you're ready for a break, head to the kiosk where you can grab lunch and a coffee! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @i2snap_pics.  #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT

High red cliffs, a large waterhole and a sandy creek fringed by gums makes Ellery Creek Big Hole one of the prettiest spots west of #AliceSprings. Bring your bathers over the summer months, float on your back and gaze up at the rock sandwich, formed over thousands of years by flood waters 🙌 Whether you pack an overnight bag, or plan to finish the route in one day, you'll get major bang for your driving buck in the West MacDonnell National Park. With it's stunning beauty, permanent waterholes and rich diversity of plants and animals, the park is not to be missed. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @carmenhuter! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT
