The Red Centre’s art experiences aren’t reserved for after dark. Sunrise Journeys at Uluru brings art, culture, music and landscape together as the desert wakes for the day.

The immersive sunrise experience centres on an artwork created by Anangu artists Selina Kulitja, Denise Brady and Valerie Brumby, with music by Anangu composer Jeremy Whiskey.

Before sunrise, the artwork is recreated across the desert floor using laser and light projection, with Uluru and Kata Tjuta on the horizon. As the light changes and the sun begins to rise, the experience creates a striking connection between contemporary artistic expression, culture and Country.

8. Step inside a world of light at Kings Canyon

Experience Kings Canyon in a new light at Light-Towers, an immersive installation by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro. Set against the rugged Central Australian landscape, the experience features towers of light that shift in colour to an atmospheric soundscape, transforming the desert after dark. The Aboriginal-owned and operated cultural experience introduces visitors to practices and knowledge including bush foods and medicines, local plants, dot painting, traditional tools and weapons, and the use of seeds in jewellery making.
