Meet Chase 'Croc Counselor' Johnson, Manager at Finniss River Lodge. With over 20 years of experience as a tour guide and airboat specialist, Chase brings extensive knowledge and expertise that she shares with guests at Finniss River Lodge.

Known, by locals and wildlife peers for being a ‘croc whisperer’, Chase tends to work with crocs that no one else wants to work with - whether they are cranky, grumpy or are experiencing the Sunday blues. She’s seen it all!

Outback meets luxury

Just a 90-minute drive from Darwin, Finniss River Lodge is where bush character meets contemporary elegance. Nestled on a 50,000-acre working cattle station, the lodge offers an all-inclusive stay that immerses guests in the raw natural beauty of the Northern Territory without sacrificing comfort.

What makes Finniss River Lodge so unique? By day, you’ll explore vast paddocks, lush wetlands, and winding river systems teeming with wildlife. By night, you’ll unwind in absolute luxury—think air-conditioned suites, gourmet dining, and an infinity pool overlooking the floodplains. It’s barefoot luxury at its best.

Nature and wildlife encounters like no other

Finniss River Lodge offers unparalleled access to some of the most specular landscapes and wildlife. The Top End is well known for its incredible coastal floodplains, hidden billabongs, and tidal rivers edged with vast expanses of dense mangroves.

Whether it be wallabies hopping along trying to hitch a ride in your buggy, to the large aggregations of water birds soaring above, or -of-course the resident crocodiles gliding through the waterways, there is an abundance of wildlife to be seen on the lodge’s property.

Hop onboard an airboat tour and explore the adjoining Sweets Lagoon for a croc spotting tour. As you glide across the water, keep your eyes peeled for the lagoon’s saltwater crocodiles -this region is home to the world’ third-largest density of estuarine crocodiles!

How do you know if there’s a crocodile in there or not? We go up, we touch the water, yep, its water, there’s a crocodile
